Practical and Comfortable Ugg Boots

Ugg Boots are a popular sheepskin boot that have been a fashion craze for most of the 21st century and as winter approaches and people look for warmer, more comfortable footwear, it is more than likely that Ugg Boots will make yet another appearance this year.

The concept of Ugg Boots is nothing new. In colder climates such as the Artic and China, sheepskin boots have always been popular apparel, particularly with sheep shearers. It wasn't until the earlier half of the 20th century that sheepskin boots really began to make a mainstream appearance.

Uggs Boots or 'fug boots'(as they were once known) also have a long history with competitive swimmers and surfers, dating back to at least the 1960s. These boots were used to keep swimmers and surfers' feet warm while out of the water and in between competitions. Ugg Boots were particularly ideal for surfers whose bodies were protected from the cold by a wet or dry suit, with the exception of their feet. Ugg Boots enabled competitive surfers to keep their whole body warm while outside of the water.

The Ugg Boots design on which today's fashionable Ugg Boots are based comes from Australia. For the past two hundred years, Australian sheep herders have been using the boots for warmth and comfort. While the term 'Ugg' actually refers to ugly, it didn't take long for other Australians to notice the warm, practical boots sheep herders were wearing and decide to get a pair for themselves.

Practical and comfortable, it's likely that Uggs are going to continue serving as popular footwear, regardless of whether or not they have the support of celebrities.
